You heard about it at DockerCon Europe and now it is here: we are proud to announce that Docker for Mac with beta Kubernetes support is now publicly available as part of the Edge release channel. We hope you are as excited as we are! With this release you can now run a single node Kubernetes cluster right on your Mac and use both kubectl commands and docker commands to control your containers. When the Docker Desktop application starts, it copies the /.docker/certs.d folder on your Mac to the /etc/docker/certs.d directory on Moby (the Docker Desktop xhyve virtual machine). You need to restart Docker Desktop after making any changes to the keychain or to the /.docker/certs.d directory in order for the changes to take effect.

What to know before you install
README FIRST for Docker Toolbox and Docker Machine users
If you are already running Docker on your machine, first readDocker Desktop for Mac vs. Docker Toolbox to understand theimpact of this installation on your existing setup, how to set your environmentfor Docker Desktop on Mac, and how the two products can coexist.
Relationship to Docker Machine: Installing Docker Desktop on Mac does not affect machines you created with Docker Machine. https://heavygplus966.weebly.com/seiko-serial-number-check.html. You have the option to copy containers and images from your local
default
machine (if one exists) to the Docker Desktop HyperKit VM. Whenyou are running Docker Desktop, you do not need Docker Machine nodes running locally (or anywhere else). With Docker Desktop, you have a new, nativevirtualization system running (HyperKit) which takes the place of theVirtualBox system. To learn more, see Docker Desktop for Mac vs. Docker Toolbox.System requirements
Your Mac must meet the following requirements to successfully install Docker Desktop:
- Mac hardware must be a 2010 or a newer model, with Intel’s hardware support for memory management unit (MMU) virtualization, including Extended Page Tables (EPT) and Unrestricted Mode. You can check to see if your machine has this support by running the following command in a terminal:
sysctl kern.hv_support
If your Mac supports the Hypervisor framework, the command printskern.hv_support: 1
. - macOS must be version 10.14 or newer. That is, Mojave or Catalina. We recommend upgrading to the latest version of macOS.If you experience any issues after upgrading your macOS to version 10.15, you must install the latest version of Docker Desktop to be compatible with this version of macOS.Note: Docker supports Docker Desktop on the most recent versions of macOS. Docker Desktop currently supports macOS Mojave and macOS Catalina. As new major versions of macOS are made generally available, Docker stops supporting the oldest version and support the newest version of macOS.
- At least 4 GB of RAM.
- VirtualBox prior to version 4.3.30 must not be installed as it is not compatible with Docker Desktop.
What’s included in the installer
The Docker Desktop installation includes Docker Engine, Docker CLI client, Docker Compose, Notary, Kubernetes, and Credential Helper.

Switch between Stable and Edge versions
Docker Desktop Edge Mac Download Version
Docker Desktop allows you to switch between Stable and Edge releases. However, you can only have one version of Docker Desktop installed at a time. Switching between Stable and Edge versions can destabilize your development environment, particularly in cases where you switch from a newer (Edge) channel to an older (Stable) channel.
For example, containers created with a newer Edge version of Docker Desktop maynot work after you switch back to Stable because they may have been createdusing Edge features that aren’t in Stable yet. Keep this in mind asyou create and work with Edge containers, perhaps in the spirit of a playgroundspace where you are prepared to troubleshoot or start over.
Experimental features are turned on by default on Edge releases. However, when you switch from a Stable to an Edge release, you must turn on the experimental features flag to access experimental features. From the Docker Desktop menu, click Preferences > Command Line and then turn on the Enable experimental features toggle. Click Apply & Restart for the changes to take effect.
Snapscan software update for mac mojave. To safely switch between Edge and Stable versions, ensure you save images and export the containers you need, then uninstall the current version before installing another. For more information, see the section Save and Restore data below.
Save and restore data
You can use the following procedure to save and restore images and container data. For example, if you want to switch between Edge and Stable, or to reset your VM disk:
- Use
docker save -o images.tar image1 [image2 ..]
to save any images you want to keep. See save in the Docker Engine command line reference. - Use
docker export -o myContainner1.tar container1
to export containers you want to keep. See export in the Docker Engine command line reference. - Civilization ii manual download. Uninstall the current version of Docker Desktop and install a different version (Stable or Edge), or reset your VM disk. Minecraft download for android tablet.
- Use
docker load -i images.tar
to reload previously saved images. See load in the Docker Engine. - Use
docker import -i myContainer1.tar
to create a filesystem image corresponding to the previously exported containers. See import in the Docker Engine.

Docker Desktop Edge
mac, install, download, run, docker, localToday on the Edge release channels, we released a new beta version of Docker Desktop, the product formerly known as Docker for Windows and Docker for Mac. You can download this new Edge release for both Windows and macOS. Docker Desktop enables you to start coding and containerizing in minutes and is the easiest way to run Docker Engine, Docker Swarm and Kubernetes on Mac and Windows. In addition to simple setup, Docker Desktop also includes other great features and capabilities such as:
- Fast edit-test cycles with volume mounting for code and data, including file change notifications.
- If you want to switch from Swarm to Kubernetes for orchestration, it’s a click of a button in the Docker Desktop UI.
- On Windows desktops, you can develop both Windows and Linux containers with Docker Desktop using a toggle selection in the UI.
- Docker Desktop handles the setup and teardown of lightweight VMs on both Windows and macOS, using Hyper-V on Windows desktops and Hyperkit on macOS.
- Built-in enterprise network support allows Docker Desktop to work with choice of VPNs and proxies.
You may have already noticed the new Docker Desktop name on www.docker.com, and over the next few months we will incorporate the new name in the product UI, documentation, and other other relevant areas. To be clear, there are no changes to Docker Desktop’s availability or functionality: Docker Desktop is still available free of charge for both Windows and macOS and still includes all of the same great capabilities.

New Versioning Scheme
This release of the product also introduces a new versioning scheme, with this version of the product labeled 2.0.0.0-beta-1. Earlier versions of the Docker Desktop products used the same version numbers asDocker Engine, even though Docker Engine and Docker Desktop are not the same product. Docker Desktop is a free, downstream product which includes Docker Engine plus other complementary features.
Starting with this Edge release, Docker Desktop version and the Docker Engine version numbers will be maintained separately. This will make it clear when the Docker Engine is updated, versus adding new functionality to the Docker Desktop product itself. The new Edge channel Docker Desktop release number is 2.0.0.0-beta1, and it includes the newly released Docker Engine – Community 18.09.0-ce-beta1 announced earlier this week.
The Edge release channel will still be the source of the latest publicly available builds of Docker Desktop, including beta and release candidate versions before general availability (GA). Similar to today’s release of Docker Desktop in the Edge channel, the pre-GA releases will have a designator like beta in the version. After the test cycles have complete, the Docker Desktop Stable channel will continue to provide the latest GA build. So you won’t see the new 2.0 versions in the Stable channel until the beta testing is complete.
You can get the new Docker Desktop 2.0.0.0-beta1 now via the Edge channel (Windows or macOS) and you can learn more about the Docker portfolio on www.docker.com.
